After concerns surfaced from his physical exam last month, it appears President Trump is going to do something about his weight after all. It's called, the Ketogenic, or Keto for short, Diet. The diet consists of cutting out almost all sources of carbohydrates and sugars leaving a diet that mostly consists of meats, dairy, nuts, and leafy greens, leaving some to call the diet Atkins on steroids.
The good news for President Trump is that he will be able to enjoy his beloved Steaks and other large helpings of meats and proteins he has famously known to enjoy. When asked about the diet the President had this to say "Although I am very healthy, everyone gets to be concerned about their image a bit. And now, I get to enjoy all the big beautiful steaks I want, I don't have to give any of them up."
Results from the Keto diet can be dramatic. We spoke with nutritionist Liz Harper who said "the Ketogenic, or Keto, diet, makes the body think that it's in a state of starvation due to the lack of carbohydrates which causes the body to basically sustain itself on the fat it has reserved which can lead to dramatic weight loss."
Even with its strict rules, the diet has it's die hard followers with some losing well over 50 pounds after just a few months of use. Still, there are those who have concerns that an emphasis on red meat and fatty dairy could have a long term negative health impact. One follower we spoke to, Dan Miller, reported this. "I've been on the Keto diet. And now I have ass cancer."
