WASHINGTON, DC (AP) - Taking a page from his predecessor, on Thursday President Trump tweeted he will meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un for a "beer summit" during his trip next week to Asia. In a late night tweet the President indicated the meeting was facilitated thought their mutual acquaintance, NBA star Dennis Rodman.
In an interview with Fox News last week President Trump said, "Our State Department, led by Rex Tillerson, has done a terrific job, and I mean terrific. But Tillerson is a tough guy and has made zero progress in North Korea." He continued, "We are going to do something soon that is going to blow your minds, and this is going to be tremendous for the ratings of Fox News, believe me."
Trump then tweeted, "This historic beer summit hosted by the great people of China will be the first step toward a peaceful resolution, as you know I don't even drink beer, never have. This could be the start of something big, and I mean really, really big." President Trump has proudly stated in interviews that he does not smoke or drink because of his brother Fred Trump.
