Going into effect December 1, 2017, any retired police officers will lose their retirement benefits if they relocate out of the state of Virginia. This applies to retirees already relocated.
Governor McAuliffe made a statement today, “They worked here, they get their benefits here. They leave... shows negligence of duty and we will not honor their retirement benefits.”
Numerous retired police officers are flocking back to the state to prevent losing their retirement benefits. Says Governor McAuliffe, “once the benefits are gone, they cannot get them back.”
