Gainesville, FL (AP) -- Florida will introduce Jim Tressel as its next head coach as early as Wednessay morning, a source close to the University of Florida Athletic Department revealed Monday afternoon to the Associated Press.
Tressel, now President of Youngstown State University, last coached at Ohio State in 2010 before resigning amid the now infamous autograph scandal where he allegedly mislead the NCAA, which in turn handed down a career-derailing 5 year "show cause".
Tressel's stint at Ohio State was a decorated one, lasting from 2001 to 2010 and including a National Championship win over the Miami Hurricanes in the 2002 Fiesta Bowl. Tressel also led the Buckeyes to National Championship Games in 2006 and 2007 where they fell short each time. Ironically, his 2006 opponent was Florida's Urban Meyer (now at Ohio State).
