Gardai continue to implement an emergency-only road travel alert. All roads must be kept clear of traffic to facilitate road clean up crews scheduled to begin at 12pm midday Tuesday 17 Oct.

Only travel of an urgent and critical nature is currently permitted as Storm Ophelia shows no signs of abating.
Debris and Dangerous Electrics.
The extensive operation will attempt to tackle fallen debris, trees and ESB cables not yet deemed safe to traverse.
Clean-Up to begin at Midday.
A preliminary regional assessment has confirmed all routes in and out of major towns, particularly in the West, South and South East present difficulties to the emergency services.
Motorists are advised to abandon travel plans to ensure all Gardai and emergency services have sole and exclusive use of the road network for the 24hrs beginning at 12pm midday tomorrow 17th Oct..
