Wednesday evening Santa Rosa School board announced closure of all schools on Friday 8 September to allow students to participate in hurricane preparations. Students will be required to report to sandbag stations throughout the county to bag sand to assist residents with preparing their homes even though there's no storm coming. Due to a shortage of bottled water students will be required to bring their own drinks. School board superindendant Mr Tim Wyrosdick stated "we are pleased to offer our students as a service to the community". Taco Bell has agreed to supply free lunches to all students, they will have a choice of bean or beef burritos. Students from K to 8th grades must report to county sandbag stations with a shovel no later that 7:20am on Friday morning. Attendance is mandatory.
