Mike Newrones , age 50 , from cleveland ohio was said to have been river bathing in the Ohio River behind Mountaineer Casino and Race Track around the time of 4:30 p.m. on september 1, 2017.
He was quickly consumed by several large paranas leaving behind only his dentures as a reliable proof of his identity.
Witness Gene Taylor said thatvhe was fishing for the rumored 500 lb catfish claims he saw someone appearantly "bathing" but he dismissed the man's actions in the assumption that he was a homeless vagrant. Soon after he cast his line, his quiet afternoon of fishing was disturbed by what he claims to have been screaming and violent thrashing.
" I heard the cries for help and some gurgling. I looked over to the direction of the disturbance and saw the man thrashing. I couldn't help him for a couple of reasons. One, i couldn't get to him in time . i don't move as fast as i did when i was young. And two, i thought that his thrashing would attract the 500 pound catfish".
Services for Mike Newrones will be held at the chaplains office at Mountaineer race track and casino on Sept. 6, 2017. It will be a closed casket
