Santa Rosa County officials announced that Navarre Beach has been selected to host National Goat Weekend during the Sept 2017 Labor Day weekend. Hundreds of goat farmers and their herds from all over the Southeast will converge on Navarre Beach for three days to celebrate goat farming by offering both the farmers and their goat herds a chance to enjoy Navarre's pristine beaches.
Beach condo owners and regular beach goers are asked to be friendly to the hundreds of goats expected to attend the event. "Goats have as much right to the beach as any human and this is the only time me and my goats are allowed to enjoy the beach" said goat farmer Pete Ennis.
Beach goers will be asked to stay out of the water during the event as goats lack bladder control when their hooves touch water. Santa Rosa officials do say that with a little patience the goats should assimilate with regular holiday weekend beach goers just fine.
