At approximately anytime in the past week, hundreds, possibly thousands, of people in a small Alabama town have broadcasted news all over their social media profiles that they believed to be true. The most popular of which were stories of the local mall closing and another in which the town believed a big name restaurant would be setting up shop in their town. After the stories had been seen by so many and caused such a stir on popular social media webistes, the local newspaper had to wite an article stating the news in which so many people had believe to be true was, in fact, fake news. One local resident, when asked why he believe the fake news to be true and why he had spread the rumor, said, "Well, it was on my buddy's profile and I like him so I just knew it was real. After all, if it's on the interwebs, it must be true.". After speaking with a much smarter person, from Anywhere Else, U.S.A., and asking her how such news could spread so fast and be believed by so many, she said, "It comes down to simple intelligence, really. When a person reads an article on any internet website, it is important to check the source from which the news originated from and in turn, one can determine if the website and news is credible. The spread of fake news is an epidemic in this country and most people are too lazy to source check and would rather just make a couple of simple clicks to spread the ignorance and have a sense that they are informing people of the notable events, weather, and sports.". Luckily for this town, the fake news was discovered as a farce before patrons set up their lawn chairs for the demolition and started lining up for lobster tails.
