Destiny 2 Early Access Beta went live Tuesday. While many users across all platforms are praising the game, both for new Innovations, and several aspects that are returning, Bungie is reporting a laundry list of problems that need to be addressed before the game is released.
Destiny 2 engineering lead Matt Segur, said early Thursday morning, "It's unfortunate for sure. We understand people are going to be disappointed, we're very disappointed too. The thing is, we encountered a lot of problems during the first few days of the beta, that we were not anticipating. Initially, we thought we could address these issues in time for the early September release, but decided that the best course of action was to take our time and make sure that when the game is released the fans receive the quality title they are expecting."
He went on to say, the open Beta will continue through Sunday as planned, but that the release date for the full game will be pushed back, at least a few months.
"We're going to let the Beta continue as planned, because it's doing exactly what it is designed to do, which is to alert us to any issues or oversights that need to be addressed. Obviously we want to get the game out as soon as possible to the players. Unfortunately, I don't see it coming out this year. Nothing is set in stone, but I'm confident that Destiny 2 will be released by spring of next year."
This is a major blow to fans, as the beta has received mostly positive reviews online. Apparently though, there are some technical issues below the surface, though nothing specific has been mentioned as of this writing.
