A group of scientist, after almost a decade, have finally been able to discover that even though Hawaii is considered "paradise" by mainlanders, it actually feels like prison to some.
Over the past 50 years, travel to this tropical vacation destination seems to increase incrementally. Turns out, that for some residents it actually feels like a prison. "Being separated from friends and family, the constant increase in price of essentials like bread and milk, and being surrounded by water 24/7 makes me feel like I am being punished", says Maui resident, Donna Marie. "It's not like I want to be here", she says.
Turns out that some people need more than sunny skies, clear blue water, and scenic views to be happy. "The only thing that keeps me going is the modern technology like Skype and Facebook that keeps me connected with my family and positive about my current living situation", says Donna Marie.
