LASports Beat recently interviewed pitching master, Clayton Kershaw. They touched on a number of subjects ranging from pregame rituals to what cities are the best for traveling to during the season as an opposing player. His answers were light and fun until he was asked about the Dodgers recent success in the regular season and the problem of translating that into postseason victories.
Kershaw took a somber tone and stated, "Look, some teams are good and some teams are great. Winning in the regular season comes from talent and everyone is talented at this level. You wouldn't be here if you weren't, but in the playoffs you have to have ice in your veins. Everything is more intense, more high stakes. Not all good players are built for that."
When asked if Dodgers fans were setting themselves up for more heartbreak this season he replied laughing, "Aren't they doing that every year? It's okay, they should be used to it. There's a lot of baseball left to play."
The Dodgers finished the first half of the season leading the National League West with a surge pushing them past the rival Colorado Rockies and making them odds on favorite to win the World Series this Fall. If their ace pitcher is to be believed, then Vegas is way off. Also, gotcha sucka!
