The City of Plano has confirmed multiple sightings of freshwater sharks in the City's water supply. First spotted Wednesday in Lake Lewisville, the newly discovered species appears to have migrated to surrounding lakes. Animal Control experts warn the sharks seem to be developing a resistance to chlorine and are thriving in North Texas lakes that are the source of various municipal water supplies. Early Saturday morning, a juvenile specimen was found in a women's lavatory in an office building on the 7000 block of Chase Oaks Boulevard.
The City of Plano has approved emergency funding to retrofit all area water towers with shark filters, but North Texas Animal Control warns the infestation may not be adequately contained until late August. Until then, local residents, particularly gullible women, are advised to stand up when using the toilet for the remainder of the summer.
