Local resident and advocate for the poor has been elected Mayor of the City of Trinidad, TX.
John E. Dupree Jr. has won the position of Mayor on this day June 30, 2017. A long time advocate for the poor, Mr. Dupree dedicates his time to feeding the hungry, volunteering at the local hospital, and starting the local chapter of Houses for Humanity. Mayor elect Dupree beat the incumbent Larry D. Estes. Estes, who has served Trinidad for 4 years. When asked about his loss, Mr. Estes said "The better man won". Mayor elect Dupree takes office Sept 1, 2017. The Herald caught up with Mr. Dupree for an interview and this is what he had to say. "I would like to thank the wonderful people of Trinidad for their vote and their confidence in me. I'm going to do great things for this city; revenue, cut taxes, better roads, transportation, and more law enforcement. " Keep an eye on Trinidad" he added, "We're going to be doing great things".
