A local fisherman got quite a surprise this week when he caught a fresh water shark in Flanagan Lake. The angler, Junior Fleming, 62, said he was trolling along the when he noticed one of his poles bending. "It was bending more than I have ever seen a pole bend." Fleming fought the 74 pound fresh water shark for over two hours. "It was the most exciting catch of my life. I've been fishing there here waters for all my life and never have I caught anything like this." The photo was taken with a curious child on the shore.
Department of Wildlife and Parks has now issued a warning regarding Flanagan Lake. "We are recommending no one swim or go on or in the water until we can assess the situation and see just how many sharks are in the water."
Flanagan Lake is postponing the annual fireworks display and fish fry until the waters are deemed safe.
